The AIR VENTURI wet separator / industrial wet scrubber is a wet dust collector for sticky, moist, combustible and potentially explosive dust that is difficult or impossible to separate reliably using a dry dust collector. Thanks to wet separation using water, integrated Venturi nozzles and an automated belt filter system, the AIR VENTURI is particularly suitable for demanding grinding, polishing, deburring, cutting, milling and turning applications. It can be used for everything from compact individual workstations to complex machine installations with airflow volumes of up to 10.000 m³/h. Venturi wet separators are also referred to as wet scrubbers or gas scrubbers.
Operating Principle of the AIR VENTURI Wet Dust Collector
DThe dust-laden air is directed into the system by the fan. In the Venturi section, the airflow comes into contact with finely atomised water. The Venturi nozzles generate intensive mixing of the air, water and particles. This wets the emissions and binds them within the water.
The mixture then enters a settling chamber. The tangential air inlet, based on the centrifugal principle, enables outstanding separation. The water containing the contaminants is separated from the cleaned airflow in this chamber. Coarse and fine particles are separated by means of an impingement tube, water scrubber and paper belt filter.
The fully automatic discharge of sludge through the belt filter system, together with automatic monitoring of the water level, belt filter, Venturi nozzle operation and end of the filter belt, enables safe system operation.
Applications of the AIR VENTURI
The AIR VENTURI is used wherever dust emissions need to be safely bound and separated using water. Wet separation is particularly useful for particles that are difficult to clean from dry filtration systems, can clog filter media or place special demands on extraction technology due to their combustibility or explosiveness. The principle is based on combining a contaminated gas or airflow with a flow of liquid. Solid, liquid or gaseous components can be absorbed by the scrubbing liquid. The AIR VENTURI uses water, which is finely atomised through Venturi nozzles and binds the particles contained in the airflow. The product data sheet describes this process as comprising the Venturi section, water atomisation, settling chamber, water scrubber and paper belt filter.
A wet scrubber or wet filtration system is particularly suitable for applications in which a conventional dry filter quickly reaches its operating limits. Typical applications include the extraction and separation of grinding, cutting and polishing dust, as well as dust generated during deburring, milling and turning processes, including processes involving potentially explosive substances. These systems are also suitable for reducing general airborne contaminants generated during machining processes in the metalworking industry.
Benefits for Operators and Users
The AIR VENTURI is particularly suitable for companies seeking a robust and process-reliable alternative to dry filtration for challenging dust. Wet separation binds the particles in water, while the belt filter system discharges the resulting sludge. This reduces manual work and supports reliable operation, even in applications involving high dust loads.
A wet separator can provide the more reliable solution, particularly for sticky, moist, combustible or potentially explosive emissions. Instead of retaining particles using dry filter media, the AIR VENTURI uses water as the scrubbing liquid. The dust particles contained in the airflow are wetted, bound and subsequently discharged from the process.
AIR VENTURI – Wet Dust Collector for Critical Dust Applications
A dry dust collector can operate very efficiently with many types of dry dust. However, wet separation may be the better choice for sticky, moist, combustible or potentially explosive dust. This applies particularly when dust particles clog the filter media, cannot be reliably removed through cleaning or present an increased fire and explosion risk.
The AIR VENTURI uses water as an active filter medium. The particles are therefore not merely retained mechanically but are bound within the liquid flow. The particle-laden water is then separated from the airflow, and the resulting sludge is discharged through a belt filter system.
